Samajwadi Party (SP) president Mulayam Singh Yadav Monday refused to say who would head the next Uttar Pradesh Government, but his son Akhilesh was categorical – his father would.
“I won’t say anything till election results are out,” Mulayam told reporters in Lucknow a day before election results in the politically crucial state are to be declared.
Akhilesh, who heads the SP in the state, said: “All the party members want that Mulayamji should become chief minister.”
Expressing hope that the party would win majority and form a government on its own, Akhilesh said: “We have worked hard in Uttar Pradesh and it is the result of our hard work which you see.”
