Sri Lanka Cricket Board announces the team for 2011 Cricket World Cup

SLC Board announced that the selection of the following players has been approved by the Minister of Sports for the World Cup 2011:

1. Kumar Sangakkara ( Captain )

2. Mahela Jayawardena ( V. Captain)

3. Upul Tharanga

4. T.M Dilshan

5. Thilan Samaraweera

6. Chamara Silva

7. Chamara Kapugedara

8. Angelo Mathews

9. Tissara Perera

10. Nuwan Kulasekera

11. Lasith Malinga

12. Dilhara Fernando

13. Muttiah Muralitharan

14. Ajantha Mendis

15. Rangana Hearth

Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa on January 4, directed SLC Board to select the best players for the upcoming 2011 Cricket Word Cup.

Newly-built international cricket stadium at Sooriyawewa in Hambanthota District, two refurbished stadiums in Pallekele (Kandy) and R Premadasa (Colombo) are the three designated venues in the island for the forthcoming World Cup cricket matches.

SLC Board's Head office with the National Selectors is to officially announce the new team at a press conference to be held on Saturday (January 08, 2011).

Fomer Captain Sanath Jayasuriya and Chaminda Vaas not included
