Sri Lanka profits from IPL deal
Sri Lanka stands to get their pound of flesh from the Indian Premier League tournament which will get underway in India after the 2011 Cricket World Cup. According to SLC Interim Committee secretary Nishantha Ranatunga the BCCI now has agreed to pay 10% over the players’ fees to the Lankan authorities as a royalty payment.
Mahela Jayawardena is Sri Lanka’s most valuable player in
the IPL in 2011 season.
Explaining the deal Ranatunga said “We explained to the Indian cricket authorities that we bear all expenses in maintaining and grooming the players so it is all but right that we should get our rightful share from that deal.
“Now if a player is getting a sum of US$ 100,000/- he will stand to get that full amount, but the BCCI will pay Sri Lanka Cricket 10% of that amount over the players’ fees as Royalty.”
Gate collection for flood relief
Meanwhile the SLC interim committee yesterday decided to donate all gate collections from the three ODI games against the West Indies for Flood relief purposes.
The Visitors who faced a washed out game at Sooriyawewa in late December will open their short three match second leg with one-day international at the same venue and take on the Lankans on two ODI on the 4th and the 6th at the R. Premadasa Stadium.
The following players have been brought the IPL franchise owners.

Nuwan Kulasekera US$ Chennai Super Kings US$ 100,000,
Nuwan Pradeep -- Royal Challengers Bangalore US$ 20,000,
Suraj Randiv -- Chennai Super Kings US$ 80,000,
Tissara Perera – Kochi US$ 80,000 and
Tillekaratne Dilshan -- Royal Challengers Bangalore US$ 650,000.
