He was commissioned as a lieutenant in the Blues and Royals regiment of the Household Cavalry – serving with his brother Prince Harry and, two years later, earned his wings by completing pilot training at Royal Air Force College Cranwell.
The second in the line of succession to the throne of England, Prince William will someday rule sixteen independent states. He is the son of Charles and the late Diana, the Prince and Princess of Wales. He will marry Kate Middleton in Westminster Abbey in April 2011.
