Fairy Queen Train
Overview
Fairy Queen is the oldest working engine in the world. The engine was built in the year 1855 and acquired by the Eastern Indian Railways from a British firm. The train initially served the city of Bengal (now West Bengal). In 1908 the services however came to a halt and it was after a gap of 89 years, that is in the year 1997 that the engine once again ran over its tracks. Now a prestigious asset to the National Rail Museum, the train is one great means of transportation that departs from the Delhi Cantonment and reaches its destination at Alwar, in Rajasthan.
Train Travel
A tour in Fairy Queen makes you feel nostalgic. In great olden days this engine would come to life and in all its pride run through various Indian towns. It is an Indian feeling, of times when British occupied the lands and technology was more like any foreign concept. The train for its services has won National Tourism Award, which gives a fair idea about its importance as well the services rendered by it
The train provides service from the capital of India, Delhi, to Alwar city of Rajasthan. The train travel also incorporates travel to the famous wildlife sanctuary of Alwar - Sariska National Park. There is a nights stay at Sariska Palace and provisions for safaris in the sanctuary.
Train Features
The train features air conditioned coaches with the capacity for 50 passengers. The train also has a pantry and features on board catering. The railway department also organizes cultural programs at Sariska, which form a part of the travel. Trips to the wildlife sanctuary marks an additional feature.
Travel Charges
The travel charges for a return tour to Delhi is 440$ per two persons. Tour cost includes train travel charges, catering, hotel charges at Sariska and visiting charges for wildlife sanctuary.
