Guinness Record GWR Day is Back! United Kingdom

Guinness Record GWR Day is Back! United Kingdom

guineess Record

It’s amazing how quickly the year goes by isn’t it?  It feels like just as we’re dusting a new Guinness World Record off the shelves and checking out its awesome new cover and the amazing records inside it’s time for us to get our GWR act on and start thinking about breaking a record ourselves.

GWR DAY -1

It’s great to be a Guinness World Record holder because I live in a very small village here and I’m the only Guinness World Record holder in the area!

- Martina Servaty (Germany), Most Juice Extracted by Treading Grapes

What are you talking about?
Me?

Break a Guinness World Record?
Are you crazy?

No my friends, not at all.  And we’ve got the perfect reason for you to do so.  On Thursday November 18th 2010 we’re celebrating the sixth edition of the annual-record-breaking-in-your-face-honest-this-is-once-in-a-lifetime-opportunity-that’s-what-I’m- talking-about-Guinness World Records Day.

GWR DAY -2
We’re very proud to be part of GWR Day and we know thousands of other people are participating in this event on this day and I think it is a real Happening, it’s something we really want to be a part of.

- Gerard Danford (Finland), Most Nationalities in a Sauna
But what’s this all about?

Well, it’s pretty simple really.  On November 18th there will literally be a global celebration of all things  superlative as people all over the world celebrate Guinness World Records Day by attempting

break or set a world record.  You can literally do anything at all and be part of the global celebration.

GWR DAY -3

I’m very happy to get the record for Italy on Guinness World Records Day because I’m Italian and I feel very proud.
- Ernesto Cesario (Italy), Fastest Time to Eat a Bowl of Pasta

Maybe you can pick up the most jelly beans in one minute with chopsticks?  Or how about breaking the most concrete blocks with your fists?  I know, how about doing the most jumping jacks in one day?  I mean seriously, even if the above examples aren’t exactly your cup of tea there are thousands of others to choose from so get your thinking cap on and get yourself involved.

GWR DAY -4
It was nice to be a part of something that’s a lot bigger than I am, that’s been going on for a lot longer than I’ve been here and it’s going to keep going for a lot longer than I’m going to be around.
- DeeDee Barker-Wix (USA), Most People Lassoing Simultaneously

The other thing is that when we say a GLOBAL celebration of superlative feats we really mean it.  Last year over 250,000 people took part in 23 countries worldwide breaking 43 records on the day!!
It’s a great healthy competitive spirit between the whole world.
- Dave Dupre (Australia), Largest Bikini Parade
Big, small, young, old, from over here, to over there if you want to get in to the Guinness World Records book this is your chance.  To give you an idea of the sort of international party you could be a part of here’s a few of the records going down in 2010:
•    Most consecutive double dutch skips (USA)
•    Largest martial arts gathering (Canada)
•    Longest kite surfing journey (UK)
•    Longest time to spin a basketball on your head (Netherlands)
•    Largest bikini parade (Germany)
•    Largest melodica ensemble (Japan)
•    Largest torchlit parade (Sweden)

GWR DAY -5
Everyone’s had such a good spirit about getting involved, it’s been great.  Guinness World Records?  Do it!
- Jane Claymoor (UK), Longest Conga on Ice
So go for it and celebrate GWR Day on November 18th and be part of the world’s biggest record breaking party – see you there!!!
